ICARE, Carlo Vogele’s first animated feature film, is currently in post-production. With ICARE, Carlo Vogele proposes a highly stylised visual universe, whose influence ranges from Minoan paintings to the illustrations of Edmond Dulac. The result will plunge the viewer into the heart of Greek mythology alongside protagonists full of mystery.
Little Icarus leads a peaceful life in the sculpture workshop of his father, the famous inventor Daedalus. One day he discovers a mysterious boy with the head of a bull who lives hidden in the royal palace of Knossos. A secret friendship grows and turns the lives of both children upside down. But when King Minos locks the ‘monster’ in the labyrinth built by Daedalus, Icarus loses his only friend and his trust in his father. When Prince Theseus arrives in Crete to kill the Minotaur, Icarus is ready to do anything to save his childhood friend. Unfortunately, the infernal machine is set in motion, and the young hero’s disillusionment leads him to a tragic choice between darkness and light.
